I watched a brilliant talk with lifestyle coach Nick Herle last week, and he shared a tip which to be honest has completely saved my year. I, like many of you, have found this year to be incredibly tough, I am thankful for my job and for my health of course, but having life ripped away from you is just so hard to deal with, a sentiment which I am sure a great number of you agree with.
Nick is a positive soul and he began talking about the fact that we cannot let this year go to waste, time is precious, even if we are limited as to what we can do. This is the mindset I have decided to adopt, inspired by Nick, and here is why we should turn this into the year of planning, and laying foundations.
Importance of a Plan
I can’t speak for everyone but I have certainly been guilty in my life of not having a solid 5 or 10 year plan. This always seemed to me like wishing my life away, but the reality is that the 5 years was up and I hadn’t put anything in place, the same happened after 10. I have wanted to change this and to be honest, what better time than right now to do just that? Let’s envisage where we want to be, and go after it.
Ready To Go
Whilst now everything may be limited, there will be a time when we are fully open and allowed to do all of the cool things which we want. When that happens, you need to be ready to know where you want to go, how you want to get there and have the money in place to pay for it. This is why I have written a list of all the places that I want to go, and I have tentatively pencilled in the end of 2021 to get started with my travel plans. I want to be ready for the reopening and I want to use this time to map it all out.
In a situation which we are in right now, so many of us will be looking at the world and seeing nothing but restrictions. When someone tells you that you cannot do something, you always want to do it more, this is the same thing that has happened this year. With this being said however, it is very easy to forget those feelings of longing, those feelings of desire and there will be many who say that they will no longer take things for granted, but who will simply go back to where they were before, forgetting all of those emotions. In planning your future now, using this time to build a foundation, saving some money or learning something new, you can be prepared to take full advantage of your life when we are once again able to do so. Now is the time to start mapping it out.
