What is Lagna Chart – According to Hindu Vedic Astrology

Hindu Vedic astrology is considered to be age-old and is the root behind numerous astrology systems in the entire world. As per Vedic astrology, the whole solar system is being divided into 12 signs, nine planets 27 stars, and all the possible predictions are being made on this basis only.

Horoscope is also called Janam Kundli, or Kundli is basically the division of the entire universe into 30 equal degrees, and hence 12 houses are there in which the zodiac signs are placed. The Indian name of the sign is Rashi, Janma Rashi or Rasi where Janma Rashi is termed as the sign or the Rashi in which Moon was in transit while the native was born. Similarly, the Sun sign is termed as the sign-in in which the Sun was in transit at the time of the birth of the native.

Lagna or the ascendant is termed as very important as per the Hindu Vedic astrology and holds special place more than the Sun sign and the Janma Rashi. Various planetary combinations in the Janam Kundli predicts about the various events that may have a physical impact on our life or not? Lagna chart is basically dependent upon the rotation of the earth and is the chart of interest. Lagna Chart is always considered to be supreme and always will be because, without this, the Navamsa chart cannot be formed. The planets which are placed in the Lagna chart of a person have a special effect on the life of that person. Also, the Lagna chart can reveal if the person says truth or lie.

The Rashi of the Lagna and Nakshatra are the symbol of the soul (Atman) of the native. Lagna lord is the symbol of Horoscope ruler, and hence the Nakshatra & Rashi where the Lagna Lord is placed also holds great importance because Lagna Lord assimilates the qualities and traits of the specific Nakshatra & Rashi.

What is Lagna?

Simply speaking, Lagna refers to the ascendant that rises on the Eastern horizon at the exact moment of the birth of an individual. It is very dynamic, and there is a change every 2 hours and hence is almost accurate. It is also called as the first house in the horoscope, and then other houses are established as per the counterclockwise method. The moon sign can be the same for two or people, but the ascendant may not be the same for them, and similarly, the Moon sign or Sun sign may be identical for two individuals, but Lagna may be different. The reason for the same is that the Sun remains in the sign for approximately a month and travels only a degree through a day whereas the Moon remains for 2.25 days in a sign but ascendant is there for only 2 hours.

Referring to the ascendant, important calculations are performed, the birth ascendant has considered if it is a natal chart and the Lagna rising at the time or the Prashna Lagna is considered at the time of the mundane or horary chart. Moon is considered for reference only.

Numerous Vedic Hindu astrologers consider Chandra Lagna, Janma Lagna & Surya Lagna for concluding and taking the cue, many western astrology experts have started to follow the same process.

However, only Chandra Lagna is enough if it is analyzed carefully and logically; then predictions can be made accurately. Though, in most of the cases, astrologers only consider Janma Lagna, also called as the birth ascendant. Accuracy of the predictions depends on the skills of an astrologer, and hence, one should consult a professional who is adept at his work.

Importance of Lagna in the Horoscope

Lagna is termed as the face of the birth chart or the identity. Much of the detail about the concerned person can be determined from Lagna.

The way planets are positioned in the Lagna, the looks of the person can be determined. This can be further studied in detail as the face reveals a lot about the person, his/her success, abilities, etc. It can also be termed as revealing about the body language.

Various other factors are being considered for making predictions about the horoscope. The examples are Neech Bhang Raj Yoga, Vipreet Yoga, Poriborton Yoga, Nakshatra, Moon sign, etc. and some of the malicious yoga-like Kaal Sarp Yoga. The Lagna impacts the horoscope. All seven planets like Jupiter, The Moon, the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, and Mars except Rahu & Ketu are the owners of the 12 houses.

Hence, if any of these planets are placed in your Lagna, then your personality will be strongly influenced by the grahas. Moon will make you helpful, Mars will bless you with a lot of energy, Saturn will make you sincere and isolated, Jupiter will make you knowledgeable, Venus will make you suave & sophisticated, and Mercury will make you intelligent.
