Lord Vishnu – The Preserver Or The Protector Of The Universe

Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu,Lord Mahesh, the Holy Triumvirate, or Trimurti together form the Gods of the Universe.Lord Brahma, being the creator, Lord Vishnu, being the preserver, and Lord Shiva being the Destroyer. Lord Vishnu is the Supreme God as he ensures the universe does not fall prey to any evil. He represents the principles of order, righteousness, and truth.

His role is to return to the earth in troubled times and restore the balance of good and evil. So far, he has incarnated nine times, but Hindus believe that he will reincarnate one last time close to the end of this world.

Lord Vishnu’s worshippers, usually called Vaishnava, or Vaishnavites, consider him the greatest God. Vaishnava worship only Vishnu. Vishnu monotheism is called Vaishnavism.

In Vaishnavism, he is the Supreme Self and the Lord of the universe, who manifests variously as part of His obligatory duty.

The Vedas recognize him as a solar deity (Aditya) and depict him as the God of three strides, upholder of law and giver of boons.

In other respects, Lord Vishnu reincarnated multiple numbers of times in various forms. He lived on this planet nine times, with the 10th predicted.

Lord Vishnu has more powers than any Hindu deity. He can manage forces equally, and therefore he contributes directly to the survival of the world through his energy. Vishnu typically reveals his relation to the human universe and the spirit realm, in a dark blue glimpse of the four wings, a pair at the end. The Sudarshan Chakra he holds is a sharp, rotating discus which portrays the cleansed, spiritual soul. “Su” means pleasant and/or superior and “Darshana”, in its literal sense, means vision or sight. Together, they depict the destruction of ego in the awakening and realization of the soul’s original nature and Lord Vishnu himself.Lord Vishnu also carries a mace or Gada, called “Kaumodaki.” This is the root of all physical, metaphysical or intellectual energy, as is the supreme influence of Vishnu. This also implies the influence of Vishnu to overcome materialist and evil (Anartha) forces that hinder going to the devotees who approach him. The Supreme force in Vishnu is the Supreme strength that purifies and elevates us spiritually from our materialistic relations. In the southern parts of India, Srirangam Temple, is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also known as Lord Ranganatha in Tiruchirapalli,Tamil Nadu. In the inner sanctum of the temple, Lord Ranganatha lies in a reclining position on top of Adishesha, the 5 headed serpent. The temple was built around the 9th century AD. One can see great influences of the Dravidian style of architecture. It is celebrated in DivyaPrabhanda by Alwars. Four million people come to this temple and take blessings in His divinity through different services. A remarkable fact to note is that it is not only the most important of the 108 DivyaDesams but also the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
