The Truth About Olaplex

If you have ever dyed your hair, most likely you have already used Olaplex products, or simply heard from different people about this “innovative” product. Olaplex belongs to the elite of luxury hair care products that actually live up to their advertising promises.

All the best professionals from the world of hair care bow to Olaplex, because it works as an “enlarger” of hair from the inside, which allows you to carry out all kinds of transformations with your hair without causing irreparable harm.

What is Olaplex?

Firstly, Olaplex is a three-step hair care treatment that prevents hair damage during and after the bleaching process. The first two steps are created for professional, salon use, while the third step is for home use. It helps to keep the hair healthy and well-groomed in between salon visits.

Secondly, this treatment is truly universal: it works with all hair types and structures. According to Martin Robertson, Director of Education for Olaplex, “Olaplex is absolutely for everyone. All hair goes through stress, which can lead to breakage. Imagine that Olaplex is like a workout for your hair: the more you use it, the stronger and healthier it will be”.

How does it work?

Unlike all other hair restoration systems, Olaplex has a special patented formula. The main ingredient is Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, which actively repairs broken bonds. Olaplex regenerates every single strand of hair. It finds bonds that have been damaged and re-connects them ionically and covalently.

Olaplex is especially useful for blondes. In order to get lighter, they almost need to “kill” their hair. Hairstylists use bleach or ammoniated color to remove the pigment that harms the hair. That is why it is important to use Olaplex in your bleaching process.

How to choose the right treatment?

The first two steps of the Olaplex system are for professional use only. Therefore, check with your hairstylist in advance if he uses Olaplex.

However, if you are curious to try everything on your own before proceeding with the full treatment, then you can skip right to step No. 3. Many people ask if this part of the complex will restore hair if not using the first two, and the answer is yes! It doesn’t replace the whole system, but it’s a great way to test the magic of Olaplex if you’re wondering how it works.

How often should I use Olaplex?

It depends on the damage level of your hair. We recommend including Olaplex treatment in every salon visit and use No. 3 once or twice a week. As Olaplex works better in combinations, we highly recommend you try out Olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and oil.
