Liverpool Wins EPL for the 19th Time- After 30 Years!!!

Liverpool wins it for the nineteenth time! As soon as Willian scored the penalty yesterday against Manchester City, Liverpool secured the victory in EPL for the nineteenth time (Ref: Indian Express). They are now right behind another red giant Manchester United who have won the English Premier League for the 20th time under the coaching of Sir Alex Ferguson.

When five years ago Jurgen Klopp took the responsibility of coaching Liverpool, there was a rumor that how far a German coach can cope with the situation and blend himself with the English team. But just like art, music, or literature soccer doesn’t limit any boundaries of nations or language. And Klopp has proved that already when he managed to own the Champions Trophy earlier. But this victory of English Premier League has more impact on his career as through this victory, after a long wait of thirty years, Liverpool once again managed to win the trophy.

In 1990, under the coaching of Kenny Dalglish Liverpool won the EPL for the last time (Ref: CNN Sports). Thereafter, the fans had been waiting to see their favorite clubs triumph. But soon after 1992, when the English League changed its name to English Premier League, there was no luck for the “The Reds” till yesterday. Officially, Liverpool is the only club to become Europe’s best six times. But unfortunately, there has been no EPL trophy for the past thirty years. It has once again come back to “The Reds” as they start celebrating the magical moment in spite of the Covid-19 crisis situation. The Liverpool fans around the world were already depressed out of the current pandemic phase, but this victory turns out to be the moment to cherish!

Liverpool has won the trophy with seven more matches left to be played. It was almost sure that Liverpool was going to win the trophy when they beat Crystal Palace in the previous match on Wednesday at Anfield. It was rejoicing but a tragic moment for the Liverpool fans because the team played in an empty stadium defeating Crystal Palace with 4-0 without the presence of the supporters. They watched the match live on TV due to the current pandemic state. Even yesterday’s match against Man City happened in the same stadium and the same way! But after the match, thousands of Liverpool fans came out on the streets of England and celebrated their favorite team’s victory in their own way.

At the moment, EPL has been seeing the football coaching of two world’s best coaches Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp while both of them have brought new techniques and strategies to the game. It is rightly observed from the Liverpool matches that they have been playing with the 4-3-3 format from the beginning of the matches. But the coach has trained the players in such a way, that they are able to change the formation at any time depending upon the need. This is where it becomes very difficult for the opponent’s team managers to stick to a particular formation. Throughout the entire EPL, we have seen that starting from the defense line, till the forward Roberto Firminho or Moh Salah have been switching their positions continuously which makes it very difficult for the opponent’s defense line to mark them. Liverpool management has shown that they haven’t made any mistake in appointing Jurgen Klopp as the manager, “The Reds” are at 19 now, just right behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United who are at 20 times winning the EPL. The time will tell whether Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool can reach that magic figure!
