New York has many names; The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps, The City of Dreams and the list goes on. Thousands of movies, books, and songs have paid homage to the city in different scenarios. Every day of the week,24hours a day, there’s always something exciting happening in the city. From enormous museums to skyscrapers, architectural wonders, galleries, and new neighborhoods to explore, you’d have to be a superhuman to cover it all on your first trip. The first step to surviving this fast-paced city is to hail and ride a yellow taxi like a local and start exploring the places of interest.

NYC attractions are scattered among the city’s five boroughs—Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island—each exhibiting a different way of life.

All seasons and festivities bring out a different element in the city, so it is always swarming with tourists. Looking for a perfect place to stay in NYC can be a big task. The following guide will help you understand the city better before your journey starts:

New York Bridges

Many bridges connect New York City with the different boroughs and islands. The Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge are probably the most popular. You can’t leave NYC without getting photographed on the Brooklyn Bridge. Take a shot with family and loved ones in front of its mind-blowing architecture with the city skyscrapers as your backdrop. The best way to admire the magnificent skyline of Manhattan is from the window of a yellow cab as it crosses the Brooklyn Bridge. Once the sun sets, take a stroll along the East River to catch a glimpse of its brilliant lights!

Central Park

One of the world’s most renowned green spaces, Central Park: comprised of neat lawns, walkways, Belvedere Castle, manicured European-style gardens and a lake.

During warmer months a stroll through Central Park is essential. Take a break from hopping between museums and skyscrapers to enjoy a boat ride in the lake. While taking pictures and people-watching, make sure to stop and admire the numerous statues and learn their stories.

With the end of warmer months, Central Park becomes majestic, the autumn leaves turn into a light show of golds, browns, and nuances of red; it feels like passing through a painting. The holiday period brings great cheer to the different corners of the park including the Central Park Carousel and Columbus Circle. You can go ice skating with your partner or family at the Wollman Rink which opens every winter in the south of the lawns, where you can skate and slide whilst admiring New York’s skyline.

Since the park is so vast, it’s a good idea to take a free tour led by the Central Park Conservancy, which will make sure that you cover all the essential areas.

If you plan on visiting the upper east or west side, cut your stroll in half and take the shortcut much-loved by New Yorkers towards 5th Avenue.

Empire State Building

Known in its day as the “eighth wonder of the world,” this international landmark has been immortalized in movies like An Affair to Remember and King Kong. The Empire State Building remains one of the world’s most recognizable man-made structures. No visit to NYC is complete without experiencing the top of the building, 86th and 102nd floors provide an unforgettable 360° view of New York and beyond. The panoramic view looks even more impressive at night.

The Ferry –NYC water route

Getting to know New York can be tiring, so take a break from the hustle of the streets and hop on a ferry. The East River routes are the most popular— connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. During the day you can ride the ferry to get to the Statue of Liberty or to visit the nearby islands. A cruise around the city during sunset or after dark shows you the city in a different light. Grab a bite to eat while sailing through the glittering view of the Manhattan skyline.

Times Square

Times Square is a huge and bright intersection that invites you to get lost in the crowded streets, neon lights, giant billboards, and towering television screens. A square that never stops and always dazzles.

The City of Dreams is waiting for you!
